A short story I made for school. Please comment.
Two graceful wolves glide soundlessly across the leaf-covered forest floor. The moon hangs overhead, unmoving. A frantic rustling is heard, following the path of the creatures. Humanoid figures in black raiment followed their prey with perfect precision and unity, like the many parts of a single organism working in unison with each other. The wolves easily out ran the stalkers, but they seemed to be coming at them from all sides. The two lupines were being herded to a predetermined destination. As they quickened their pace, the wolves noticed that the forest abruptly stopped. Each observed a rip in the earth up ahead. They both kicked up leaves as they slid across the ground in their hapless attempt to stop. One of the wolves managed to skid to a stop at the crevice's edge. The other, however, plunged into the raging river at the bottom of the ravine with a resounding yelp.
The black hunters closed in, surrounding the remaining animal. Trapped, she searched the area with rapidly moving eyes, searching for an escape. As the black figures moved closer, she edged closer to the ravine. One of the soldiers produced a strange weapon, aiming it at the doomed wolf. The man pulled the trigger on the gun-like mechanism. A red dart shot out and struck the wolf in its chest. She then clumsily staggered forward, and fell limp at the feet of her pursuers.
At the bottom of the deep ravine, a river thrashed in a torrent around a plethora of jagged rocks. Spray from the river shot out in all directions. One large, curved rock sat idly in the middle of the raging water. A hand emerged from the prison of moisture, grabbing the large rock. The large hand pulled a cut and bruised man onto the rock. Panting hard, the weary man sprawled out on his back upon the rock. As he lay there staring at the sky, all his eyes could see was the bright moon staring down at him. All he could hear was the sound of the boisterous water beside him. His eyes turned to slits, and his vision darkened.

The man woke up several hours later, completely refreshed and fully healed from his injuries. He looked up at the steep walls of the ravine. He dived into the river and swam to one side; and began to ascend the cliff-face with astonishing speed. He climbed by grabbing onto small ledges and finding various footholds. When he reaches the top, the man saw no signs that any living thing had ever been there. He had lost her.
Now he was alone, but determined to find his lost companion. He decided that a higher level of senses were needed. He began to shrink and grow silver-white fur. A tail emerged from his back, and his hands and feet transformed into large, furry paws. His face elongated and his teeth grew longer and sharper. Soon he was a full-blooded Canis lupus, and sniffed out a trail which would lead to his captured comrade. His sensitive nose followed a winding path through countless trees and plants. As the wolf treaded along the predestined path, the scent abruptly went cold. He scanned the area, but saw nothing. He began to dig into the thick layer of leaves which covered the forest floor. He discovered an object like a hatch. He once again assumed a humanoid form and depressed a button on the metal surface, which slid away to reveal a dark hole. He slipped down into the darkness and landed with a thud several feet below. The walls, ground, and cieling were all black; nothing could be seen. He began walking forward deeper into the tunnel. Each step echoed through the halls for what seemed like minutes.
Eventually dull bulbs slightly lit a portion of the hallway. There were many doors on either side of the tunnel. He searched each, but found nothing but strange machines covered in rust . Finally, he found one room containing a large cell. Between the jagged bars, he spotted a battered and bloodied body lying in the corner. He immediately recognized the figure, and screamed out her name in a shaky voice, as if unaccustomed to speaking. "Lucia!"
The name echoed in the dark hallways, resonating with the walls. When he saw that she didn't stir, he rattled the rusty bars, which broke off with ease. He quickly ran over to his fallen partner, assessing her wounds. He picker her up in his arms and turned to leave. As he walked out of the cell, he looked up and saw a black, human-like figure. The figure spoke through a spoke through a black mask. "I'm afraid we need her hear. She is very important to our project. We need to make copies first. I know what you are."
"Who are you? Let me pass."
The shadow responded, "Tell me who you are first, and then we'll talk."
"I am Canis. Now let me pass!"
The black figure spoke calmly. "I am Alucard. Head of this fine research facility. I'm afraid that i can not allow you to leave; it would jeopardize my plans. Now I'll have two subjects."
"If you won't let me through, then I'll force my way out," Canis yelled. Suddenly, Alucard vanished. Canis looked around the room. When he saw that he was no where to be found, he exited the room and began to walk down the hallway with the unconscious Lucia. He was furious because of what had happened; but all he cared about was getting Lucia back to the wilderness.
He eventually reached the latch to the outside, climbed the ladder and opened it. It was deathly dark outside, and the moon hung high in the sky. As Canis walked north through the woods, he could feel a strange wind blowing. Lucia stirred and began mumbling. She finally woke up, and they embraced, happy to finally be reunited.
The wind still felt wrong, and they decided that they would escape it. They each mutated into their lupine forms, and ran far to the north. They agreed to remain wolves forever, avoiding the attention of all those who may seek to harm them.
