Never make then complicated!
Thats the first thing and if you dont wanna make creating names complicated the only thing you need to remember, dont back a characters name Axh'lagn or something like that, its a major turn off, and usually somebody wont finish reading what you've writen if you do that. Its really annoying to have to stop yourself when your reading and try and figure out how you pronounced the name in your head last time.
Also try and make the characters name fit him or hear, delicate characters need delicate names, mysterious characters need names that provoke mystery and suspence, and so on, now there is no way to mathematically make a adventurious name or a mysterious name, but once you have it on paper or written out, its pretty easy to figure out if it fits the character.
If you have more then one main character it is a good idea to keep it too one easily distinguishable name, no last names. Although, that isnt a concrete rule, I just read a book where most of the characters had last names and it worked fine, but if you just starting out this is a good idea to keep to for your protagonists.
I hope that helped if anyone has anything to add to this pm me and I'll unlock the thread and post what you said with your name beside.
Hope that helped!!
