I leave messages on your machine, Written countless unanswerred letters, Memories of our great love flood my mind, Must this love die after so long?
Dead roses lie in a vase I gave you, Torn up pictures that miror my torn heart, Words said of hatred and sorrow, Oh, how I regret that dreadful night.
I call you in hope of hearing your voice, you answer and i can hear your breath, I try to tell you I love you and want to be with you, There is silence and then the line goes dead.
I receive a letter with excitement and tear it open, But I read it with sadness in my heart, You tell me that what we had was not meant to be I fall to the floor with only my tears to comfort me.
Your tears seal this envelope that contains a dagger in my heart, my tears blot out the words of this dreadful letter. You say I must continue on without you in my life, Now your words mean as much to me as the dirt i walk upon.

wow...A lot of emotion in this poem Carl. I'm not a poet, so its hard for me to comment on poetry, but I think you really put a lot of yourself into this. Good job.
